"I believe that psychotherapy offers my patients a safe and caring relationship,
within which healing and transformation can occur."
Elin M. Bierly is a Licensed Psychologist with an M.A. in Psychology and an M.S. in Pastoral Care and Counseling with a concentration in Spiritual Direction. For over 20 years, Elin has practiced in Chester County, Pennsylvania, as a psychotherapist. Her diversified professional expertise, lifelong study of spirituality, meditation and mind-body interaction along with her personal experiences in the joys and struggles of family life serve to enhance her professional understanding and connections with her patients.
Elin's professional knowledge is grounded in best practices of psychology, with extensive experience in diagnosis and treatment of a variety of conditions. Her patients’ presenting problems may include symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma and problems related to families dealing with disabilities, codependency, adolescent and adult ADD, and women’s issues.
Through her many years of training and psychotherapeutic counseling practice, Elin has maintained a particular interest in the spiritual orientation of psychotherapy, a focus that ultimately led to her study and earning of a postgraduate Certificate of Advanced Studies in Pastoral Counseling and an M.S. in Pastoral Care and Counseling with a concentration in Spiritual Direction. This spiritual attentiveness informs a developmental and purposeful perspective that seeks to differentiate treatment plans for individuals and families according to their unique beliefs and needs.
As a school psychologist, Elin worked with older children and adolescents. In community mental health and in private practice, she has had a great focus on working with adults but does continue to see older children and adolescents, when appropriate.
